New Hoarding Group Starts 1st October 2019

The purpose of the project is to provide free group counselling sessions to participants, who reside in the Borough of Croydon, in order to help them examine why they collect items that clutter the home and what would it be like to consider letting some of these go.

As part of the project, if participants feel comfortable to do so, they will be introduced to De-Clutter Buddies who will come to your home on invitation and look at what could be done to support you in this decluttering. This offer is for an hour a week. If a client would prefer they can meet the De-Clutter Buddy outside of their home to start with.

Mind in Croydon Hoarding Project Makes National News

You might have noticed that our Hoarding Project featured as part of the BBC News last night (Sunday 28th January). You can read and see more about the project here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-41949044

We are very pleased to have been able to work in partnership with Croydon Council to develop a new and innovative way of supporting people who hoard. The pilot project has proven to be extremely successful and we are in the process of writing up a full report on the project and preparing to support another group of people.

National Hoarders Awareness Week

National Hoarders Awareness Week 16th-20th May 2016

AmicusHorizon has partnered with clinical psychologists Helena Drury and Alice Kerr from SLAM to hold an event for people with hoarding issues.

There’ll be a short presentation on Hoarding Disorder and a practical session on sorting through items and making decisions about whether to keep them/let them go. People will be asked to bring along something they are having difficulty discarding. AmicusHorizon will dispose of the items appropriately (recycling, confidential waste, charity shops).
