We are looking for a highly motivated person who has proven financial experience and business acumen which they can exercise within a charitable context.

Based at our head offices in Purley the postholder will be responsible for leading and managing the finance and resources functions for Mind in Croydon. You will work with the Chief Executive and the Board as a key part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) to provide support both at a strategic and operational level. You will ensure the consistent operation of effective financial and budgetary controls. You will provide a high quality service and relevant reporting to a range of stakeholders on all aspects of financial performance and corporate resource planning and implementation.

Our Active Minds project is based at Orchard House in South Croydon and also works out and about around the borough. The post includes helping clients to fulfil their wishes to join healthy living and sporting facilities in the local area and to start up groups within Mind. This is a fulfilling and vibrant role with lots of positive interactivity with clients within a nurturing environment. We run a gardening project, tennis, badminton, relaxation, swimming and many other activities. Your role will be to help run these activities and those in the area of health and wellbeing including smoking cessation, and to connect and support clients in accessing existing services. You will also liaise with and support volunteers. You will have a genuine interest in this field, and be able to motivate and support clients, identify new activities and assist in applying for further funding for your project.

We are looking for two Male Social Networking Caseworkers (one full time 36 hours per week and one part time 21 hours per week). They will work from our innovative and award winning Social Networking project in East Croydon. These posts help to promote recovery and social inclusion in people recovering from mental health issues by helping them to identify and participate in mainstream activities such as: education; faith and cultural activities; arts and culture; sport and exercise; neighbourhood/community activities etc.  These activities take place in a variety of places in the community, at the project itself and in peoples’ homes. You will be required to work on a rota basis, including if necessary, early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You need to be flexible and will be required to work your hours to meet the needs of service users. Occasionally this may be required at short notice. You will have at least one year’s experience in advice work, with a significant Welfare Benefits Advice component. Experience gained as a volunteer can be counted if it is of equivalent quality to professional experience. You will run our successful team dealing with a wide range of issues. The two Advocates and the Advocacy Manager operate in the community and in the Bethlem Hospital, with inpatients including some highly complex cases, carrying out general advocacy in the community and Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA). You will be IMHA qualified (ideally with the IAQ) and devise strategy for the service responding to funding needs. You will require leadership skills to take the service forward. CLOSED – Shop Assistant Needed

£18,364 per annum whole time equivalent pro-rated downwards to reflect that this is a part-time post of 14 hours per week (Grade 2, Scale point 21 on the Mind salary scale).

NB: We are a London Living Wage employer and this rate will increase in April 2018 to £19,128 pa wte, Grade 2, Scale point 23.

Hours to be worked – Mondays and Saturdays 9.45am to 5.15pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break ie. 7 hours per day so that the shop opens from 10am to 5pm each day. Post also needs to cover for annual/sickness leave of the Manager as and when requested.

Our shop is based at 289 Lower Addiscombe Road, Addiscombe, CR0 6RE. The purpose of our shop is to raise funds for Mind in Croydon, a busy local charity that has been running for 50 years. This very important role is to support the Manager’s efforts in maximising profits as well as keeping the shop clean, tidy and attractive to customers. Donations come in on a regular basis and you would also be required to deal with these. You would in addition be responsible on the days you are in, for the volunteers who help us to keep the shop productive as well calling up replacements to cover for times they cannot attend either on your days, or the Manager’s days. Customers can be challenging at times and the Shop Assistant will be solely in control on the days they work and will have to deal with any issues which might be raised. This is however a rewarding role. In a newly refurbished shop on a busy high street, we have become part of the community and as a local charity, all the funds you raise go to help our clients in Croydon. Overall strategy decisions, decisions on displays, methods of sorting and storing of goods etc will all be decided by the Manager and your role will be to carry out the strategy they have devised and support them in any way you can.

You will need to be extremely reliable and flexible in order to cover for any sickness/holiday absence of the Manager. Overtime will be payable for extra days worked.
