Social Networking Christmas Dinners

Today is the start of our Christmas dinners for our Hub members.

We are hosting socially distanced Christmas meals for our clients twice per day until Thursday to treat our members.

They will receive a gift, enjoy a yummy roast dinner and play games such as bingo for prizes.

Croydon Fire Service will be attending both meals each day to give a brief talk on fire safety and taking details for those who would like smoke alarms fitted and they will be fitting them for free.

Pension Protection Fund Deliver Festive Cheer

Once again, our very good friends at the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) have exceeded our expectations with their kindness and generosity. Today they visited the Hub with Christmas Hampers for the members and a massive pile of Christmas gifts for the children of members. Thank you so much to everyone at the PPF for their kindness, thoughtfulness and for making Christmas go with a swing.

Social Networking Service (inc The Hub) temporarily closed to referrals

Our Social Networking Service, incorporating The Hub, will be closing to any new referrals from July 2019 to September 2019. Those referrals which have been received prior to Monday 1st July will be processed as per our referral procedure. This is due to large numbers of people currently accessing the service as well as the number of referrals received.

This is a temporary measure. We will be reviewing this in September 2019 after the Summer Programme of activities has concluded.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mayor of Croydon visits The Hub

We were very happy to welcome the Mayor of Croydon, Cllr. Toni Letts OBE to the Hub this Wednesday (17th January). Madam Mayor spent hours at the Hub, talking with members about their lives and how the Hub has been transformative in improving their health and well-being. She also got involved with the art group and sat in on a Minding Money session. Minding Money is a project funded by Comic Relief to help people to improve their financial literacy.

The Mayor stated:

“As always I am amazed at just how much work Mind in Croydon achieves for its members and I know that it is often seen by the membership as a life-line, where they can meet friends, share concerns with staff, have a meal, take part in activities and generally feel a sense of belonging.

Please pass my congratulations to all of your team. You all do an amazing job and clearly you are all respected and indeed loved by the membership”

The Hub is celebrated at the 2017 Mayor of Croydon Civic Awards

Mind in Croydon’s project, the Hub, was shortlisted for a Mayor of Croydon Civic Award. Last Tuesday (17th October) staff and members attended the ceremony to celebrate the exceptional people who make Croydon a brilliant place for people to live, grow, work and visit. More than 200 nominations were made across ten categories and after careful consideration 25 nominees were shortlisted for the community awards. Although we were pipped at the post for the award, everyone had a brilliant time and it was a great accolade to have our work recognised in this way.

Councillor Toni Letts, Mayor of Croydon, said: “Croydon is full of unsung heroes, people who selflessly give their time and put others first to the benefit of their neighbours and the wider community. This is evidenced by the incredible number of nominations we received across the categories. I’d like to congratulate all of the finalists and thank everyone who submitted a nomination and for those who weren’t shortlisted on this occasion, thank you for what you do for our town and its residents.”
